Special Applications and Building Integrated Wind Turbines NORWIN is the world leading specialist when it comes to special applications and building integrated wind turbines. If you need assistance, engineering, design or customized equipment for a special project where other wind turbine companies say no – we might be the solution provider for you. With many years of experience from special projects like Bahrain World Trade Centre (www.bahrainwtc.com) and the Strata Building also known as the Razor at Elephant and Castle in Southwark in London. In Bahrain three NORWIN 29-Stall-225 kW have been mounted on three bridges between two sky scrapers. This task imposed tremendous challenges on the engineering team of Norwin, however, the turbines were successfully installed and now the entire building with its wind turbines constitutes a well-known landmark that is know all over the world. Strata Building is a 148-metre, 43 floors, 408 apartment sky scraper and the tallest residential building in London. Strata is the first building in the world to incorporate wind turbines within its structure. The three nine-meter wind turbines at the top of the building are rated at 19kW each and are anticipated to produce 50MWh of electricity per year. They are expected to generate sufficient energy to provide power for the common areas of the building (8% of the energy needs of the building), although questions about their real efficiency will remain unanswered until the completion of two years of comprehensive wind data analysis. |
